You have to dig under the well manicured lawns and well groomed people to see just how cool Khandallah is. The northeastern part of the suburb is dominated by a large area of parkland, which stretches north towards Johnsonville.

Three parks that make up this reserve land total almost 2 square km of the slopes of Mount Kaukau. The summit of this 445-metre peak, which is topped by Wellington’s main television transmitter tower, provides impressive views of the harbour. Khandallah has a reputation for being one of the most affluent of Wellington’s suburbs. Schools

Khandallah School is a learning community for children from New Entrants to Year 6. Our school facilities include 18 teaching spaces, Hall, Library, covered heated swimming pool, playgrounds and fields. Our school is not zoned. Most children from our school go on to Raroa Normal Intermediate School. Our school is organized into two syndicates – Junior and Senior. Within each team, teachers and children work in collaborative hubs to maximize teacher strengths and meet diverse needs.

St. Benedicts School is a Year 1-8 Catholic School that provides a stimulating learning environment for our students where they can experience a continuous education from new entrant through to the end of their Primary schooling. Our school motto ‘Developing our Children’s Minds, Growing our Children’s Hearts’ is about helping the children develop their talents so that they are able to be the best that they can possibly be in everything they do.

Parks

Khandallah park is part of one of the largest areas of continuous native forest in the city. It features 9km of walking tracks in 60ha of bush. Khandallah Park is well-known for its walking tracks to Mount Kaukau and the Skyline and Northern Walkways. The park is part of one of the largest areas of continuous native forest in the city and is recognised as a key native ecosystem. It has more than nine kilometres of tracks winding through 60 hectares of dense bush.

Nairnville Park is a great place for all weather activities. The park itself has a number of football and cricket pitches and plenty of space for physical outdoor activity. For the colder and rainy days therre is also artificial and full grass fields, with gym a and a netball court. Carparks are all around the park, making it easily accessible for all ages and fitness levels.
