Kelburn is a central suburb of Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand, situated within 1 kilometre of the central business district.Everything you could need in a suburb, five minutes from central Wellington.One of the Capital’s oldest and wealthiest suburbs, it is only minutes from downtown, but is cushioned from the urban hubbub by its elevation, complete with panoramic views, and the Botanic Gardens.

Kelburn also has a village atmosphere, with the Church of St Michaels & All Angels, its own butchery, bakery and pub, and a mix of cafes and boutique shops that include one of Wellington’s most colourful antique dealerships, Peter Wedde.

Kelburn’s also home to an iconic tourist attraction, the Wellington Cable Car, which links the city to not only the suburb, but also Victoria University.

Kelburn Normal School – The world of creativity is at our fingertips and we at KNS recognise the place that music, drama, visual art, dance and digital media play in providing child centred ways to explore creativity. Kelburn Little School – consists of 2 buildings, with the younger children based in one house and the older children in the other. The children can move between the 2 buildings and there is a shared outdoor play area connecting them. Kelburn Little School is situated next to the Botanical Gardens, which is utilised often within the programme. The cable car, Kelburn village and Kelburn School are also within walking distance.

 The Terrace School opened its doors at the beginning of the 20th century when Wellington was still known as the Empire City. This long history of ambition and educational success remains today in it’s new form as Clifton Terrace Model School. CTMS has a proud tradition of providing a quality learning environment not only for families who reside in the area, but for many living in the wider Wellington region.

Recreation

The Wellington Botanic Garden, Wellington, New Zealand, covers 25 hectares of land on the side of the hill between Thorndon and Kelburn, near central Wellington. The garden features 25 hectares of protected native forest, conifers, plant collections and seasonal displays. They also feature a variety of non-native species, including an extensive Rose Garden. It is classified as a Garden of National Significance by the Royal New Zealand Institute of Horticulture. The Wellington Cable Car runs between Lambton Quay and the top of the Botanic Garden, and it is the most direct way to get from the top part of the garden to Wellington’s Central Business District.

kelburn Village Pub – Your local Wellington craft beer bar with outstanding food and live music. Get away from the city and feel right at home! Our courtyard looks out onto hills sprinkled with cabbage trees and cottages, and inside is as warm and welcoming as your own living room. We have eight craft beers on tap as well as a great section of bottled craft. Tuatara and Panhead are permanent fixtures, and we offer new local brews weekly. Stay for a meal, it’s pub grub, but not as you know it. Our original tapas, mains and desserts are far from your average bar food fare, with an emphasis on quality and taste. Our Sunday Session is world famous in Wellington! We showcase local bands live every Sunday from 3-5 with no cover charge.
